Wedding Venues in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex

Wedding Venues In Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk that I have photographed weddings at.

I've photographed weddings at some superb wedding venues throughout Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk in the years I've been a professional wedding photographer.
Some couples get married at these superb venues with well over 100 guests, whilst others prefer a smaller, more intimate wedding.

Choosing your wedding venue is usually the first item on the "to do" list when planning a wedding. And of course it's vital to choose the right wedidng venue for you and your planned wedding, not just the best and biggest.

As someone who's in a priviledged situation to have attended over 120 weddings as the photographer I'm in a good position to give my view on some of the more popluar wedding venues in Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk. I hope my insights and information will be useful to you in making your wedding venue decision.

The venues aren't in any particular order and aren't a fully comprehensive list - if the one you're looking for isnt here it's not a black mark or bad sign - I haven't been to "every" wedding venue and to be honest some I've been to but can't remember so wouldn't be fair to comment. I'd love to offer price guides but venues are always offering deals and I usually don't get to find out the prices anyway. Please check with the venue for that information.

By all means get in touch with me if you'd like a more lengthy insight.

Ravenwood Hall Bury St Edmunds

My "Home" Wedding Venue!
It's just a few minutes away and I've photographed many weddings there.
It's a country house hotel 2 miles east of Bury St Edmunds set in spacious well kept and varied grounds. The decor is "traditional" with dark carpets and curtains and oak furniture.
This is contrasted by the "Pavilion" where receptions ans ceremonies are held with it bright and airy feel. Superb food (I've been fed many times here!) and lovely staff.

Ravenwood Hall

The Athenaeum Bury St Edmunds

Bury St Edmunds is a beautiful town in Mid Suffolk with a wealth of older buildings full of character. The Athenaeum is situated next to the Abbey Gardens and Angel Hotel making for a superb combination of venues - get married in The Athenaeum, photos in the Abbey Gardens and Reception in The Angel Hotel

The Athenaeum boasts a ceremony room capable of holding about 60 guests - there's parking for Bride & Groom outside - the decor is traditional and extremely well looked after. Top class!

The Athenaeum

Bedford Lodge Newmarket

Truly one of THE best wedding venues I've ever been to.
Very "up market" 4 star hotel with decor to match. Beautiful, huge bridal suite with massive en-suite bathroom. Gorgeous!
Obviously easy parking on site for everyone.
Massive ceremony room for as many guests as you'll ever need and everywhere full of Horse Racing history and character. Super gardens with dozens of places for great wedding group and couple shots.
Downside - it is a Spa and Hotel so it's not "yours" for the day - you'll be sharing with many others staying there and enjoying the Spa.

Bedford Lodge
Novotel

Novotel Ipswich

In the heart of Ipswich - a modern stylish and friendly hotel offering a good sized ceremony room, other rooms for the wedding breakfast and dancing and of course as many bedrooms as you and your guests would like. I love the bar area and the light - I've actually done several model shoots in here as it's so lovely!

Downsides - no garden to speak of, just a small patio outside the main entrance - limited parking, the bride and groom should be ok but guests will have to park offsite.

Woodhall Manor

Set in beautiful 7 acres of grounds and 6 miles due East of Ipswich this gorgeous country house is one of THE top wedding venues in Suffolk
Surrounded by well kept beautiful gardens and with parking for everyone this is one of my favourite wedding venues. Beautiful stairs, superb rooms and plush decor.
You won't be disappointed.

Woohall Manor

Ickworth House

A stately home set in acres of parkland just a few miles from Bury St Edmunds.
If elegance and tradition are something you want for your wedding venue then Ickworth House will be what you want. You and your guests can stay - maybe in the annexe which is self contained with 6 bedrooms, it's own courtyard and private garden. The house itself has huge well kept gardens with many many beautiful places for great photos.

Ickworth House

Haughly Park Barn

Another Stately home built around 1620 and located 4 miles West of Stowmarket set in 250 Acres of beautiful countryside. It boasts huge very well kept gardens, ponds and driveways.
Catering for up to 120 guests this will be exclusively yours with no other guests or visitors.
A truly perfect wedding venue.

Haughly Park Barn

Hengrave Hall

A grade 1 Listed Tudor Mansion 3 miles North of Bury St Edmunds this is a spectacular wedding venue in Suffolk. I really can't fully describe the magical beauty of this place - let me suggest you just click the LINK HERE and look at their website.
This is where film stars and royalty would get married - are you up for this?

Hengrave Hall

Fennes

A mansion set in 100 acres of North Essex countryside and offering exclusive access on the day of your wedding with no other hotel guests. Accomodation comprising 14 bedrooms and weddings for up to 150 guests it also has a Honeymoon cottage - the perfect place to relax the day after your wedidng. As a photographer this is one of my favourite wedding venues with many spots in the house and gardens for really epic photos.

Fennes

Seckford Hall Hotel

Set in beautiful Suffolk contryside and about 3 miles West of Woodbridge this Hotel and Spa offers 3 rooms for the ceremony, fabulous grounds and gardens and a lake.
This was the location of my first Full Day wedding photography many many years ago and a wedding venue I'll never forget. The huge lawn, the delightful lake and jetty, the beautiful building with photo opportunites round every corner.
You'll love getting married here.

Seckford Hall

Gosfield Hall

A former Royal Palace with 23 bedrooms for you and your guests and gardens and grounds you'd expect of a royal palace. About 5 miles north of Braintree in Essex it's licensed for indoor and outdoor ceremonies and has a wonderfully long aisle in Queen Charlotte's gallery - I love the photos I get of the bride walking up the aisle and such a magnificent setting is unmatched by any other venue.

Gosfield Hall
Hintlesham Hall

Hintlesham Hall Hotel

About 6 miles West of Ipswich this 16th century, Grade 1 listed manor house hotel set within 175 acres of Suffolk countryside with 32 luxury bedrooms and an award-winning restaurant is another favourite venue of mine. Dating back to the 1400s, Hintlesham Hall is an impressive building with traditional decor, which is steeped in history and is used today as a plush four red star hotel serving award-winning cuisine.
